Review: The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A truly delightful book!

This tale of the hundred year old man who on his birthday climbs out of the window of his retirement home and heads out on an adventure, has modern day echoes of The Tales of Baron Münchhausen, especially as we read the parallel account of his previous life (or more, certainly has more than the reputed nine lives of a cat!) At time at the start the language felt clumsy, maybe through translation, but worth sticking with. I especially loved some of the final chapters where all the strands of his life come together. There aren’t many books that get me laughing aloud, but this outrageous story certainly did.

Go read. You won’t regret it
